OUR STORY

Fullers Bakery was founded in 1996 by George and Heather Fuller as a traditional craft bakery – which inspired our strapline: “Hand crafted local baking.” George began his baking career at just 16, starting an apprenticeship with a local bakery in Stockton-on-Tees. He later completed a four-year bakery course at the former Thomas Danby College in Leeds, earning his professional qualifications while gaining hands-on experience in everything from baking to ingredient supply. His ambition to own a bakery came true with the creation of Fullers Bakery. Heather worked in the same bakery while studying and went on to teach modern languages for 20 years. However, her passion for baking never left her, and she spent many school holidays working in bakeries. Eventually, she left teaching and joined George in their new business venture.

Celebrating 30 Years We’re proud to be celebrating 30 years in business! From our humble beginnings, we’ve grown into a trusted local bakery with a strong team and a loyal customer base – and George and Heather are still hands-on every day. Our Bakery Team Our award-winning bakery is staffed by a team of Twenty, led by an experienced Bakery Production Manager, Allan. We craft fresh bread and confectionery every single day to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition. Together, our team brings over 180 years of combined bakery experience – not bad for a family-run business! We’re supported by a dedicated hygiene crew of four, five delivery drivers, and a skilled team of administrators – all committed to delivering exceptional service.

Sales & Retail Operations Our sales team has grown to nearly 40 people, all passionate about our products and service. The team is led by Joseph Scarr, our General Manager, who first joined us at the age of 14. He now oversees both our sales operations and the day-to-day running of our shops and bakery. We are also proud members of the East Yorkshire Local Food Network.
