The bakery was established in 1996 by George and Heather Fuller as a craft bakery, hence our strapline “Hand crafted local baking”. George started his career in baking at the tender age of 16, when he embarked upon a bakery apprenticeship with a local bakery company in Stockton on Tees. After completing a 4-year bakery course at the then Thomas Danby College in Leeds, whilst simultaneously achieving his bakery qualifications, he gained experience over the years in many fields connected with bakery, from hands on baking to ingredient supplies, before realising his ambition of owning his own bakery. He and Heather met whilst she was a student, working in the bakery where George was production manager.
After 20 years of teaching modern languages and also working holidays in bakeries, Heather escaped from the chalk face and joined forces with George in their own bakery venture.
The company has just celebrated its 20th Anniversary and even today George and Heather are still very hands on.
There are 10 in our award winning* bakery, headed up by our experienced bakery production manager, where we craft breads and confectionery every day, so that it reaches you in peak condition.
Between us we have more than 180 years of bakery experience. Not bad for a small family business, is it?!
To complement our bakery team, we also have a dedicated hygiene crew, 3 delivery drivers and a team of highly skilled administrators, all dedicated to giving you the best possible service.
There are 37 in our sales teams, led by a highly motivated sales supervisor, all of whom are dedicated to bringing you a full range of bakery products, freshly baked savouries, bespoke sandwiches and buffet platters.
In addition to our own retail units our business has grown to encompass a variety of wholesale customers: prestigious farm shops, award winning restaurants and other excellent, local food providers, and we use the freshest, local ingredients we can source.
You can also find us at local fairs from Driffield Show through Cottingham’s excellent autumn and Christmas Food Festivals to Scunthorpe and Selby’s up and coming food networking events. We are also members of East Yorkshire Local Food Network.
